Skin Cancer Prevention Queensland Industry Forum 2025
Sun Safe Practice in the Sport Sector

This event brings together leaders from the academic and research sectors, clinicians, government, non-profits, and industry—key voices in educating the Queensland population about skin cancer risks and solutions.
With many sporting activities taking place outdoors—often during peak UV hours—players, coaches, and spectators are regularly exposed to high levels of sun. This makes sport a powerful platform to embed sun protection strategies, such as wearing broad-brim hats, applying sunscreen, using shade, and scheduling games outside the most intense UV periods. It’s a great opportunity to lead by example and make sun safety part of the sporting culture.
Together, we’ll explore current insights, share lived experiences, highlight collaborative opportunities, and discuss how we can collectively create safer sporting environments within Queensland.
