ASSC hosts the 2017 Annual Scientific Meeting

 

The Australian Skin and Skin Cancer Research Centre (ASSC) held the second Annual Scientific Meeting on Wednesday 29 November, 2017.

Hosted at QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute, presentations at the meeting included updates on the ASSC funded projects, and as well as new breakthroughs in the skin and skin cancer field.

The ASSC, which is collaboration of The University of Queensland and QIMR Berghofer, brings together the leaders of the skin and skin cancer field.

“Now in its second year, the ASSC conference has matured into an exciting showcase for the outstanding research into skin and skin cancer conducted by some of Australia’s leading researchers.” Professor David Whiteman, Deputy Director, QIMR Berghofer, said.

“It was amazing to see the high quality of the presentations and the animated discussions.” Professor H. Peter Soyer, Director UQDI Dermatology Research Centre, said.

The ASSC also welcomed guests from the Skin Research Institute of Singapore (SRIS), continuing the discussions at the Australian-Singapore Skin and Skin Cancer Workshop.

Professor Whiteman also announced that the ASSC will host a Sunscreen Summit in 2018, to improve the consistency in how prevention advice is communicated to the public.
